Jennifer Boulanger is a journalist, educator, advocate, and writer who published her first book earlier this summer. “A Song for Olaf: A Memoir of a Sibling’s Love at the Dawn of the HIV-AIDS Pandemic” is a moving tribute to her late brother, jumping off in the summer of 1969 and moving through the gay rights movement of the ‘70s and into the AIDS crisis of the ‘80s. Karen Foresti Hempson is a retired history teacher and author who creates true-to-life stories about real historical events. Her books include “Bean Pickers,” a non-fiction account of eight Italian immigrant families, and “Shellback,” a coming-of-age novel about a young Upstate NY man who joins the Navy to escape poverty and ends up caught in the Pacific battles during World War II.
